About

Low Carbon Marston is an environmental group in Marston, Oxford, working towards building a sustainable, connected and resilient community, in light of the declared climate emergency.

Our projects include support for residents to:

  • use renewable energy and improve energy efficiency – informational resources and examples to view in members’ homes
  • reduce plastic use – Refill Station for eco-friendly cleaning and toiletry products, Eco Party Kit providing reusable supplies
  • choose active transport – Bike Doctor repair sessions, advocacy for safer travel
  • reduce environmental damage from litter/pollution – Marston Wombles litter-picking group (supervised children are welcome!), advocacy for cleaner environment
  • participate in the circular economy – Repair Cafes every few months, Book Swap shelf in refill shed, Giving Garage Saturday mornings 9–11am for passing items on or borrowing equipment
  • reduce food waste and share free food with those who need it – community larder on Saturday mornings 9–11am (donations from supermarkets & local producers).

Our main base is the Marston Eco Hub; many LCM activities operate with the active support of Revd Skye Denno and volunteers from St Nicholas Church, as well as other volunteers from the Marston community.
